About Us

A breakdown of the name LTParis.
What is in a name? Time and time again I get the same two responses; “Are you a lieutenant” or “dude, you that much of a Star Trek fan”? Well while my father was a lieutenant in the Air Force in the late 60’s and stationed at Karat, Thailand during the Vietnam War and Plattsburgh A.F.B. in northern NY, I did not follow in his footsteps. I also was not that big of a fan of Star Trek voyager, although LT Tom Paris on Voyager technically came before LTParis.com was registered, this website is not a fan-boy site for it. Nor is it lieutenant L.T. Smash from the Simpson’s either.Nope LTParis is a play on my name. Louis Theodore Paris (Jr.).

Born: December 1973Current Job: Systems Engineer at Skip Barber Racing School

Status: Married to my wonderful wife Danyelle, and we have one child (Xaia) and another on the way come April 2008.Resume: My online résumé is here.

Photography: I have always been interested in photography. I remember when I was on yearbook in High School and got my hands on a Pentax K1000 and also learned how to develop black and white photos in Upward Bound at SUNY Plattburgh.  I also started to do a lot of general photography with my first digital P&S. In 2006 I finally got my first dSLR, a Canon Rebel XT1/350D.Politics: I would consider myself an Independent in my political choices. I am considered on the compass on the Economic Left and a Social Libertarian and I agree with its assessment. I am a huge political junkie and usually am debating over in the ArsTechnica Soap Box.

Cars I’ve Owned (order of ownership):1981 Ford Escort (never hit the road), 1986 Chevy Chevette, 1979 and 1978 Buick LeSaber, 1986 Honda CRX, 1987 Chevy Cavalier Z24, 1998 Dodge Neon R/T (first new car), 1998 VW GTI VR6, 2001 Mitsu Eclipse GT* (x2), 2004 Mitsu Lancer RalliArt*, 2004 Nissan Pathfinder** Cars that both my wife and I have owned since we have been together

Education: I got my education, well the bulk of it, in a small school in northern NY called Moriah Central School(wow their webpage hurts my eyes) . I graduated in 1991 and went straight to SUNY Canton ATC in 1991 and 1993 (and wasted my time). By far I wish I took a year or two to learn real life before committing to college.Music: I love all types of music. One day I might be listening to Public Enemy, next thing I could be listening to Coltrane. I would say my favorite genre has to be the Golden Age of Hip Hop, but from R&B to Rock, Alternative to Soul, and everything in between gets played on my iPod.

Books: Harry Potter Series, 1984 (I’m more a news junkie)Favorite Comics: Calvin & Hobbes (than you my wife for getting me the anniversary edition ), Two Lumps, Penny Arcade.

Favorite TV Shows: Invader ZiM!, 24, House, Mythbusters, South Park, The Daily Show, Good Eats.
