First and foremost, I would like to clearly state that G. W. Bush should have never became President of the US, but that is a whole different topic. Ever since he has sat at the helm of the big chair, and appointed members like Rumsfeld and Ashcroft, they have done much harm to the American way of life. So below is a tally of things that I consider the cabinent has done that are detrimental to the American way of life, as of August 2003…
- Ashcroft seeks to prosecute Adult Entertainment sellers under obsenity laws (LA Times)
- Ashcroft claims he does not have enought power, wants anti-terror law expanded (ABC)
- Bush refuses to unclassify 9/11 report, censoring information about Saudi involvement (WP)
- Bush seeks to reduce federal ties to the poor and hand the states vast new authority, if they want it, over housing subsidies, unemployment benefits, health insurance and a preschool program for children from disadvantaged families. (WP)
- The Justice Dept. is writing legislation called the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, further reducing our freedoms. (AlterNet) (PBS)
- Bush announces a stimulus package that is geared exlusivly to the rich. (MSNBC)
- INS forces Muslim residents to register in the US, incarcerating many. (WP)
- 4th circuit court allows the govenment to designate US citizens “enemy combatants” (WP)
- USG states we need no “smoking gun” to invade Iraq. (MSNBC)
- The Bush Doctrine of a first strike policy (Guardian)
- Ashcroft claims that FOIA inquiries can be unanswered/witheld (WP)
